Summer Vacation

Yeah! Summer vacation is here! We have so many activities planned to occupy our day... swim team practice and then it's off to Movie Day at Harkins Theater and then grocery shopping with my well behaved children. Well that was the plan anyway. Right before we headed off to our Memorial Day BBQ yesterday Morgan threw up on her bedroom floor. We ended up staying home. I was hoping it would only last a couple of hours but this morning we were blessed with more. I'm hoping her saltine crackers will stay down this time. It's only 10:30 am and I've exhausted all my resources to occupy the boys. I think it will be a long day! To top it all off, Lilly got sick on my couch and threw up on Morgan's favorite blanket! What joys!

"Rubber Duckie"

Seth did an awesome job at his piano recital on Saturday! He played "Rubber Duckie," the duet with his piano teacher, Marinda Smith. Of course I'm biased but I think he performed the best. It's been fun practicing with him every morning. I think I will miss "Rubber Duckie." It warms my heart each time he sits down to play. Great Job Seth!

Back to the Operating Room!

Adam being the "perfect patient" as always!
He loved the play room!

Nice Hummer!

Adam has been such a trooper! The nurses let Adam use the Hummer to drive down to the operating room. He only ran over a couple of people and nearly knocked over one of their carts while turning left, but otherwise it was a safe trip. He made me laugh as I kissed him goodbye and watched him immediately jump out of the Hummer and practically sprint into the operating room. I think he was confused with the last operation when he was getting his tubes changed out. That was a fifteen minute surgery with unlimited popsicles afterward. This was a little bit different. This time, he had surgery to attach a Pharyngeal flap to his soft palate. Basically, this flap prevents air from escaping out the nose when we speak. The surgery lasted about two hours and he wanted nothing to do with food when he came to. His mouth hurt so badly and he was in so much pain that were we all in tears. It was supposed to be outpatient surgery but Adam was vomiting and his oxygen levels were lower than they would have liked so they admitted him. We brought him home this morning and he's doing great! I'm surviving on little to no sleep and I badly need to take a shower. He's snoring loudly on the couch at the moment (an unfortunate result of this surgery) so I had better get back to him. We are glad he is home and doing well!

"Heart Attack!"

Adam was so surprised to see that his friends had left cute little messages on his garage door! He was feeling the love! Thanks Riggs, Ryker, Ezra, Kian and Sailor! You're the greatest!

What were you thinking?!

Adam was having such a difficult time recovering after surgery that Joel wanted to buy him something special to help him feel better. Of course he didn't consult his wife before purchasing the item but at least Adam is an excited little boy! (his wife, not so much) I was thinking more of something like a new power ranger from Target. He won't be able to ride it for two weeks but hopefully it will be a good bribe to get him to eat, or I guess I should say drink. (He'll be on a soft foods diet for the next couple of weeks) At least it is only electric and doesn't go very fast... supposedly. Maybe we'll be back in the hospital sooner than we think.

Morgan Turns Three Years Old!

Morgan was excited for her birthday once she blew out the candle on the french toast she had for breakfast while her two brothers were screaming (singing) happy birthday. All day long she would sing happy birthday to herself. Her Grandma and Grandpa Carr came to her birthday party along with Aunt Lara, Uncle Lee, Aunt Michelle, and her cousins Bryce, Ethan, Cortney, Kate, and Maddie. Morgan was very excited for every present, spending about a 1/10 of a second on each one before grabbing the next one to open it. She screamed the loudest for the make-up (of course)! Her older cousin Cortney, who Morgan idolizes, painted her fingernails after the party. One funny note, Morgan had a little difficulty blowing out the candles on her cake. She blew so fast and so hard with such little success that she almost ended up hyperventilating and passing out!
Ten Things We Love About Morgan
1. She knows who's boss (her of course).
2. Letting her "scream it out" does not work. She will wear you down to the point that you are screaming louder than she is!
3. There is no hope for her to become daddy's tom-boy, thus ruining his plot to steal her from her mommy. She is a girl in every sense of the word. She loves pink and purple, make-up and dolls.
4. She loves her cousin Bryce. They can entertain each other for hours. Their favorite game is to hold hands, count to three and jump off the couch, laughing hysterically all the time.
5. Her favorite friend is her cousin Maddie. They are inseparable. They also know exactly what to do to get the other one to scream, which is quite often!
6. Whenever her Aunt Michelle, Aunt Lara, or Grandma and Grandpa Carr come over she will yell their name as loud as she can and then run over and give them the biggest hug her little arms will give.
7. She is a tattle. Her answer to Mom and Dad's question of "who did that" is always "Adam did it."
8. She loves to cuddle. Last night she woke up while we were watching a movie, (a romance) and squeezed her way in between us, put her head on the pillow, started to watch the movie, and then demanded, "pass me the popcorn." She watched the entire movie.
9. The sound of little feet coming down the hallway every morning at about 3-4 AM, with her blanket, wanting to sleep with Mommy. Do Mommy and Daddy let her stay in bed? See #1.
10. She is the biggest tease. She loves to pester her older brothers. She doesn't care so much what they are doing, just as long as she can bug them while they are doing it!!!

My Little Ballerina

The day I went to Stephanie Meyer's signing was probably the craziest day ever! The boys had swim team camp, Morgan had a ballet recital, and Seth had a scout pack meeting to go to, all within two hours. I was gone all afternoon so Joel took the day off. But without the help from Bekki Webb, Grandma, and Mary McClure, I doubt we would have made it. Joel took the boys, Bekki did Morgan's hair and dressed her up and Mary took Seth to the pack meeting. It is so nice to have friends and family to depend on! Thanks everyone! Morgan was so cute and just ate up all the attention! She was adorable!

Meeting Stephanie Meyer!

Yes, I'm a twilight fan, thanks to Nysje and Ashlee Bell! I couldn't wait for "The Host" to come out so I could see if I liked it as much as the twilight series. It took me a little while to get into the book but I loved it! As soon as I found out Stephanie Meyer was coming to Tempe I bought two tickets to her signing. I thought it would be fun to meet a "real" author! Plus she seems so "normal." I begged my sister-in-law Julie to fly to Arizona and come with me. We had a blast! The signing was fun but we wished she spoke more during her Q&A session. She spent most of her time signing the books, which I don't blame her. There were hundreds of people there, mostly teen age groupies, but there were plenty of middle aged moms like us. We have to get excited about something once in while, right? She was so nice and great and it was such good fun. The funny thing is that Stephanie Meyer is so pale! No wonder she loves vampires! Once we got up close we could see how beautiful her eyes were too! I was kind of dumbstruck once I approached the table. Hasn't she heard it all anyway? I was silent for ages it seemed and then all I could say was, "loved the Host!." I honestly don't think she even heard me. Julie almost stepped on Stephanie's feet, well actually she just kind of nudged them. We were laughing at ourselves as we left. We spent the rest of the week, going to movies, going out to eat, shopping and getting pedicures. So much fun! I'm not ready to get back to reality! Joel was a great sport and even took a day off to take care of the kids. The rest of the thanks goes to Grandpa for covering the rest of the week for me. Thanks guys!

Happy Birthday Adam!

Adam is so proud to be six years old!!!!! His official birthday was April 28 but we celebrated with all his friends this morning. Have you ever heard of a birthday party starting at 9:00 a.m.? We do what we can here in Arizona to beat the afternoon heat. Adam's new passion is baseball so of course he wanted a baseball party so he can do what he does best! This was probably the easiest birthday parties ever in the history of our family. Coach Joel put on a baseball clinic for all the little athletes and I provided the cupcakes and goodie bags! Easy!!! I think they all had a great time! As I'm writing this, Seth and Adam are breaking in all of the fun toys and making a royal mess of our family room!
