October General Conference 2008

Morgan gave the big thumbs up to Grandma Billie's special waffle recipe this morning. They are nutritious and yummy! When grandma called to invite us over for her famous waffles we went running! We stayed and watched both sessions of General Conference and probably wore out our welcome but we had a lot of fun doing it!

Blender Wheat Waffles
Blend on high, 4 or 5 minutes:
1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Whole Wheat Kernels (in their dry state)

Add and blend on low:
2 eggs
2 T Honey
1/4 t salt
2 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1/4 Cup oil
(add cinnamon, raisins and nuts for a little variety. They are the best this way!)

Lilly finally found some refuge from Adam and Morgan. She decided to hide out in the comfort of my purse!
I think she secretly wants to be Paris Hilton's dog!

I love this time of year because I finally have a couple of hours to crochet. Joel and Seth decided to try it and show how much they loved me by learning how. Joel was not sure he wanted this posted on the blog, as it finally shows to the world just how emasculated he has really become.

Sleep in General

Since Joel returned home from his deployment in Texas he hasn't been able to catch up on his sleep. I won't hide the fact that this was during the second session of General Conference. Joel usually conks out within the first thirty minutes. Morgan is at his side as usual. She climbs into our bed every night around 2 am but Joel never looks as comfortable as this picture. Morgan is always in the middle and favors Joel's side which means he has about six inches of bed to sleep in. I have plenty of room thank goodness but I hear about it each morning. We should probably place her back into her bed, but we rarely hear her come in. She will be our one and only little girl and of course we spoil her. I have to say, Joel does most of the spoiling around here.
We did have fun today at my parent's house. We don't have cable so we crash their house every six months to watch conference. They are good sports letting Lilly hang with us too. We love this time of year and look forward to the talks (and naps). We can't wait for tomorrow when the boys will have their annual conference bingo showdown.

Last Day of Summer Swimming

Aunt Lara has access to a nice gated neighborhood swimming pool. We wanted to take the boys swimming before the weather "turned cold." Adam told his mom he was freezing and the brave swimmers spent most of the time in the hot tub. By the way it it was 95 degrees outside!! But I guess when you are use to 110 degree weather, 95 is cold...relatively speaking. The last picture is of "big boy" Bryce, Lara's second child. Such an angelic face. However, looks can be deceiving!!!!

Adam's visit from the Tooth Fairy

Adam lost his tooth yesterday in what had to be the longest, drawn out loose tooth story in history. The tooth started coming loose nearly 2 or 3 months ago, but I was not allowed to touch it and I had to be very careful when I helped him brush his teeth that I did not brush it too hard. It finally fell out when Adam noticed that it was sticking out of his mouth at a 90 degree angle. I am sure part of the issue is that Seth is not the bravest when it comes to loosing teeth. We have a hilarious video of Seth screaming when I pulled his first tooth out. I am sure Adam was informed not to let me go anywhere near his tooth. The tooth fairy left $4 and Adam feels like the richest boy in the world, which given the collapse of the stock market and the investment banking firms, he may well be.

On a side note and especially for Uncle Lee, Adam and Seth are 100% Phoenix Suns fans. the Laker jersey is from our days in Torrance, CA.

Fire! Fire! Fire!

Morgan had her first "official" field trip this morning. She wasn't too sure of all the male fire fighters but they won her heart over towards the end. They were great with all the little three year olds and they even let them climb into the truck and check things out. Morgan has had so much fun with her preschool class and I'm sure this is just one of their many adventures together. Ms. Vanderpool is an amazing teacher and Morgan loves her!

Happy Birthday Seth! It's good to be 9!

TEN THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT SETH
1. Seth loves sports. If it involves a ball, he wants to try it.
2. Seth is competitive. He hates to lose. At the pinewood derby race, he was the only child to be doing fist pumps when his car won a heat.
3. Seth is a great big brother. He rarely complains when he is told to take Adam along with him.
4. Seth is a great friend. He cares about others. He treats everyone like they are his best friend
5. Seth loves to learn. He loves going to school, he loves to read and he loves math
6. Seth sleeps in his own bed. He has rarely come into our room to sleep in our bed, which can't be said for his siblings.
7. Seth uses gel and hairspray to make his hair just right. His "look" is all about the hair
8. Seth won't admit it, but he secretly loves being the only boy at the Hanna Montana and High School Musical Parties he has with the Monroe cousins.
9. Seth is generous. He never has to be told to share. He gave half of his baseball cards to Adam that he received for his birthday.
10. Seth was our perfect baby. He slept through the night at a young age, ate everything including his vegetables, and made dad and mom think we were the perfect parents, until we had children number 2 and 3. He still continues to amaze us everyday. Heavenly Father could not have blessed us with a more incredible boy and Adam and Morgan are so lucky to have him for a big brother.
